| Spend some of your sunny summer hours learning new skills, going on rides and - most importantly - helping Philadelphia’s youth learn about and earn bicycles! This year, Neighborhood Bike Works will host four summer camp sessions. Each runs for two weeks (Monday through Friday). The scheduled start dates are July 7th, July 21st, August 4th, and August 18th. You don’t need to know how to fix bikes to volunteer. You do need to be enthusiastic, patient, and responsible. You can volunteer for one week, a couple days per week, a couple hours per week, one session or the whole summer! Camp attendees (ages 8-14) will: Earn a bicycle which they have reconditioned themselves. Earn a lock, helmet and basic tools. Learn safe bike riding skills. Learn job-related skills & work cooperatively with other youth. Gain confidence as bike riders and as themselves by learning new skills. Participate in bike-related arts and crafts and cooking lessons. Go on bike rides and field trips in and around Philadelphia. Ad provided by Idealist.org |
