Position: Sr Network Administrator

Descroption:

Candidates will be responsible for functioning as the lead Network Administrator, and plans, installs, customizes, maintains, documents and operationally supports all servers, server-based systems, related hardware/software and all network components, including but not limited to, all routers, firewalls, hubs, data switches, etc. Ensure the maximum availability of server and network resources to internal and external customers.

Candidates must possess an Associate's degree, Microsoft or Cisco certification or equivalent and 5 years of experience in Information Systems/Technology industry. Minimum of 4 years experience administering Windows NT/2000 servers with experience in supporting Windows 2000 workstations in a networked environment. Must be skilled in planning, installation, configuration, usage and troubleshooting of Windows NT, Windows 2000 with Active Directory and Group Policies, MS Exchange 5.5, 2000, web mail. Have a detailed understanding of Microsoft SMS and SQL Server. Possess thorough knowledge of CISCO firewalls, routers and switches, 3Com switches and hubs. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to provide initial problem resolution and coordinate with other IS personnel for multi department fixes.

Daily duties will have the candidate administer all network resources, available file storage, network bandwidth, server processor speed, etc., to provide customers the best availability, functionality, and overall service. Recommend improvements and implement. Perform capacity and performance studies to ensure that sufficient server and network resources are available to meet business objectives. Research, develop implementation plans and implement features/capabilities available in new and existing server/network hardware and software that provide customers the best availability, functionality, and overall service. Plan, install, maintain, and support the operation of all servers, network components (hubs, routers, data switches, etc.), server based systems and related hardware/software. Identify server/network vs. client problems diagnosing and resolving server and network problems. Maintain an inventory of all servers, firewalls, routers, switches, hubs and all software assets residing on all servers, firewalls, routers, switches, and hubs. Configure associated systems to collect all audit data required by client for server, firewall, router, switch, and hub systems activity, as provided for by the operational capabilities of each device, including but not limited to system log-ins, file accesses and security incidents. Audit systems in accordance with policies and procedures. Install, maintain, and support the proper operation of antivirus detection/removal and encryption systems on all servers and where appropriate on all network components (firewalls, hubs, routers, data switches, etc) as required by client. Review firewall, router, switch, and hub audit data to assess potential risks and security vulnerabilities. Document audits and finding on regular intervals as directed in HPI policies and procedures. Coordinate problem resolutions with appropriate Information Services staff and vendors. Provide weekend and off-hours and/or on-call coverage, when necessitated; to ensure adequate Network and Server support coverage. Design, and support the installation, maintenance, and use of hardware/software and infrastructures, including but not limited to, all network and data cabling, channel service unit (csu)/data service unit (dsu) systems, remote access devices, data communication circuits (including DS-3, T-1, ISDN, 56K etc.), modems, dial-up routers, server based printing systems, etc.
