| Help homeless and low-income children get the essentials they need to be safe, valued and ready to learn! Have a great time sorting children's products in our warehouse! Volunteer with Cradles to Crayons! We are a non-profit organization that provides everyday essentials, free of charge, to kids in need in the greater Philadelphia area. We collect donations of new and gently used children's goods, process them in our warehouse, then work with other organizations (including schools, homeless shelters and hospitals) to distribute these items to children in poverty. Volunteers are always needed to sort children's clothing, test and clean toys, examine books, or inspect equipment. You might find yourself doing anything from matching outfits for a newborn to playing Candyland! All volunteer work is very hands-on, done in an energetic and fun atmosphere, and directly benefits the children we serve. Our volunteer hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 AM - 3 PM. We also hold evening hours the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, from 5 - 8 PM. Some Saturday hours are also available by appointment. Cradles to Crayons welcomes individuals, families and children over eight years of age, and groups, including school groups, service clubs, corporate and religious organizations. We can accommodate large groups (up to 70 people). No specific skills or qualifications are needed to volunteer, just the ability to stand for prolonged amounts of time. You can schedule a volunteer shift for as little as one hour or as long as six (for school groups, we recommend shifts no longer than 2 hours).
