Requirements include:
- Master's degree in radiobiology, radiochemistry, nuclear physics, health physics, radiological physics, applied atomoice physics, nuclear engineering, or laser or microwave physics or related field from an accredited program acceptable to the Surgeon General
- Highly qualified candidates with a bachelor's degree in one of the same academic disciplines and professional health physics experience may also be considered
- At least one year of clinical laboratory experience in a DOD health care facility, university or other facility
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) from the American Board of Health Physics
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)
- U.S. citizenship
